Charles Schwab Challenge reddit Live : The PGA Tour Activity is heating up down in Texas, both literally and metaphorically. Temperatures at the Colonial Country Club are expected to clear the 95° Fahrenheit mark (35° Celsius) today – but much more scorching is some of the first-class golf fans have been treated to so far. In the build up to The tournament, the big news was that the world’s top five players – Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas and Dustin Johnson – were all descending on Fort Worth, Texas to play in the event – that normally isn’t regarded as one of the very prestigious ones on the Tour. Heading into the weekend, even though, just three of those quintet remain, together with DJ and Rahmbo both lost the cut following having a disappointing 36 holes.
Instead, unheralded Harold Varner III – no.124 from the world rankings And one of only three African American golfers at the PGA Tour’s top 200 – has stolen the show early on and sits atop the leaderboard on -11 heading into round 3 now. He’s played two thoroughly superb rounds of golf, shooting a 63 in the first round (-7) and managing to negate a triple bogey yesterday using no less than eight birdies to post another round score of -4.
Another exceptional round of the tournament
Texas native Jordan Speith has also been playing Some lights outside golf up to now, trailing Varner by just one shot -10 -and currently tied for second place – as have his fellow Americans Bryson DeChambeau (-10, T2) and Justin Thomas (-8, T7). Representing Europe alongside McIlroy, Justin Rose can be in contention this weekend, heading to Saturday’s play on -8.
