In Canada: Sportsnet, Sportsnet Now (English), TVA Sports (French)
In the USA: NBCSN, NHL Network
Elsewhere: Rogers NHL Live/NHL.tv

Here’s how it will work: The lottery Is comprised of 15 teams–the seven that aren’t encouraged to league’s resume and eight placeholders–each with discretionary chances. The first draw will select the team drafting No. 1, the next draw for the group picking No. 2 and the third draw for the group choosing No. 3.

If a team outside the bottom seven will be drawn for some of the Top few picks, the lottery will activate a Phase two, which would occur between the qualifying round and round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs after the year resumes. Stage 2 would involve just the eight placeholder teams. The eight teams could all have exactly the very same chances (12.5 percent) in Phase 2, and the winner could slot into whichever draft place the placeholder group was chosen for.

The rest of the draft order will be filled by the groups with the second lowest points percentage from the 2019-20 season.

Even though The Detroit Red Wings have the very best chance at landing the No. 1 pick, the Ottawa Senators have two chances as a result of this pick they acquired in the San Jose Sharks in the Erik Karlsson trade.

Ottawa, meanwhile, has missed all the last few playoffs and has dealt with a range of missteps both on and off the ice under owner Eugene Melnyk. Lafreniere would function as a no-nonsense piece of positivity to get a fanbase that’s had little to cheer for over that interval.

Left Winger Tim Stuetzle and centre Quinton Byfield round out the top three prospects. While the ability levels may vary in comparison to Lafreniere, both are predicted to become impact players immediately as top six forward next season.
